I have a good buddy whose a Diamond level solo player, and he mainly plays Terran. We arranged a spectated game for fun, he was Terran and I was Zerg.
We spawned on opposite sides of a four man map, so I knew a rush was pretty much out of the question. Fearing Reapers I grabbed a few early Zerglings and Roaches. Once I realized he wasn’t Reaper rushing I fast expanded and teched up to Hydralisks. Teched is a term meaning growing your technology, evolving my Hatchery into a Lair and building a Hydralisk Den is what teching up to Hydralisks means.
So while I was doing this I also sent an Overseer to scout him out. He had tripple Factories, Siege Tanks, Marauders, and apparently was pumping Thors. I laughed, thinking my Hydralisks/Roach army would slaughter his Thors.
Unfortunately he teched up to about ten Thors. I build some Banelings to help take out his Marauders/Marines, and some extra Roaches to resist the Thors powerful attack.
We entered into a fight over my third expo. At the beginning of the fight he had updated Hellions, but these quickly fell prey to my Hydralisks and Roaches superior ranged damage.
So in the beginning of the fight I was feeling good. However once the Thors engaged my Hydralisks things changed. The Thors did so much damage to my Hydras and fired rapidly enough to wipe them quicker than I could count.
I quickly realized I had miscalculated on a major level. Hydralisks and Roaches won’t stand up to enough Thors. This was a big mistake on my end and had cost me a lost of resources worth of Hydralisks with little return. What was worse was that now he wiped both of my expansions, while I rebuilt as best I could.
Without my expansions larvae rebuilding was slow, but luckily I had already upgraded Infestors. I had three or four of them when he began attacking my main. I had a group of Hydralisks/Roaches again but not nearly as many as I needed or had before.
So now during this fight I mind controlled three or four Thors, these Thors did more damage than my Hydralisks had done in the first fight.
So what did I learn? Verses a Terran player, in the middle to late game, always have Infestors with the mind control upgrade. Not only can you take over Infestors, but you can take over Siege Tanks if need be. The range on these Infestors is quite nice and oftentimes you can take something over where they can’t kill you.
If i had Infestors in the first fight, I would have won the game. Play and learn, don’t punish yourself for mistakes.
I always recommend new or even novice players to get a Starcraft 2 strategy guide.
Not just any old strategy guide though, the best one. To find out what it is and read my review, or to just hear more from me, follow this link: Starcraft2 Guide Reviews. Plus you can watch a cool video.

The Protoss race is Psy energy and technology centered. A major advantage is that the Protoss can use one probe to build multiple buildings at once, saving you from having to commit individual units. The early units like Zealots and Stalkers are some of the most powerful initial units to be controlled by any race, as well. For Protoss players lets look at the best StarCraft 2 Protoss Strategies.
Walls are traditionally associated with Terran players, but they can be important for protecting yourself from Speedling/Zergling rushes from the Zerg who will oftentimes storm into your base and dismantle your entire probe force, halting your development.
StarCraft 2 Protoss strategies for walling off your base is considerably different than doing it as the Terrans, as well. Terrans are able to raise and lower the supply depot so that they can make a sealed tight wall, whereas as the Protoss you will want to wall of your entire ramp minus one grid so that you can get one unit through at a time. Put a Zealot in that one gap and make sure you tell him to hold (H) so that he doesn’t chase or get lured out by Zerglings. This one gap ensures that Zerglings will have to attack your Zealot one at a time rather than being able to gang up on him so that you can easily take them all down one after another without them getting in and all the while you can produce more units.
The next of these StarCraft 2 Protoss strategies will talk about the Chrono Boost – an ability which is only available to the Protoss which increases production of units and buildings by 50%. It lasts for 20 seconds, costs 25 energy, and is cast from your Nexus.
Hot key your Nexus when you start the game so that you can always access it quickly, then selecting “C” will select Chrono Boost at which point you cast it on any building you like. With a full energy Nexus (100) you can cast Chrono Boost 4 times. As soon as you reach 25 energy for the first time you can and should cast Chrono Boost on your Nexus to accelerate production of probes unless you are doing an early rush in which case you can save it to cast on your Gateway to quickly produce a Zealot.
Two of the most important things to mention about Chrono Boost StarCraft 2 Protoss strategies is that it can be used on Warp Gates to decrease Warp cool down time so that you can use it more frequently and you can also cast it on new buildings being constructed to speed construction time.
